A steady path
My architectural process is collaborative, thoughtful, and organized into four clear phases: programming and schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and architectural supervision.
Each phase builds on the one before it, creating a steady path from early ideas to a completed project that feels personal, practical, and carefully considered.
Phase I
Schematic Design
We begin with programming and schematic design by getting to know you, your site, your goals, and the way you want to live. Through conversation, images, lists, and questions, we clarify what matters most and translate those priorities into a strong design direction. This early phase is about listening carefully, exploring possibilities, and establishing a shared vision for the project.
When we have a concept established, we bring in builders to help build that relationship and define the budget details more. We want to know that we are on track before we move to the next phase and to select the right partner to move forward with.
Phase II
Design Development
During design development, we refine the concept in greater detail, shaping the layout, materials, proportions, and key architectural elements so the design becomes more resolved. At this stage, we also coordinate with the builder, engineers, and consultants as needed, helping align the design with budget, constructability and site conditions.
It is in this phase that we start selections. We help guide clients connect with other knowledgeable companies and walk them through each choice in finishes and fixtures, cabinet design, appliances, plumbing, tile and counters. This is all incorporated into our 3D modeling software.
Phase III
Construction Drawings
The construction drawings phase turns the developed design into a detailed set of documents that can guide pricing, permitting, and building. These drawings communicate dimensions, assemblies, finishes, and technical information so that the project can move forward with clarity and consistency.
Phase IV
Architectural Supervision
Finally, architectural supervision keeps us involved during construction, where we can answer questions, review progress, and help ensure that the work reflects the design intent. This continued involvement supports a smoother building process and helps the finished project feel true to the goals established at the beginning.
